Anyone can book you a tee time. What we design is a journey: mornings on courses that host Ryder Cups and Walker Cups, afternoons in castle gardens and thousand-year-old cathedrals, evenings of music, whiskey and firelight in bars that have been pouring since 1789.

Your hosts are Phil and Elaine Brennan — Phil a low-handicap golfer and nationally celebrated musical director, Elaine the organisational heart of Celtic Ways Ireland. Together they escort you throughout: private executive transfers door to door, tee times and buggies pre-arranged, clubs rented if you’d rather travel light, and every dinner booked before you’ve thought to ask. Their philosophy is simple: every person matters.

And because this is a Celtic Ways tour, the non-golfers in your party are never an afterthought. While you play the back nine, they might be in a thermal spa, a Japanese garden, a seaweed bathhouse or a crystal-cutter’s studio. Everyone comes home with stories.

Finding words to capture and communicate the experience of traveling with Phil and Elaine is almost impossible. My daughter and I walked St. Declan’s Way with them a week ago and our hearts are still so full that even the life we have returned to feels brighter, clearer, and more meaningful as a result. Phil and Elaine worked together with so much care and harmony to ensure that every detail was in place that we felt genuinely held and looked after in every way possible. The group (who hadn’t known one another before the tour began) became extended family by midweek. Walking St Declan's Way with Phil and Elaine was probably one of the most inspiring experiences we have ever had. We stayed in Glencairn Abbey, a haven of peace and tranquillity. We prefer not to list in detail what Phil and Elaine offered in order to avoid 'spoilers' as the camino was full of unexpected surprises and treats. However, some highlights must be mentioned, for example Elaine's organisation and support for all five pilgrims; he kindness throughout the week was ever reliable and often accompanied by warm infectious laughter. Nothing was left to chance. She helped to create the generous and continual camaderie in the group. Friendships were forged as a result. Phil's inspirational leadership of the reflections at key points in the pilgrimage was another highlight. These rich moments were usually accompanied by music (portable Bose system) to match the theme and the location. His encouragement, patience and understanding of the group were a key ingredient in building an atmosphere of trust, support and regular hilarity. It was uncanny how he matched the way to the needs of the each indvidual in the group. Each key location along the way saw the arrival of local guides with intimate knowledge of the history, geography and culture of each from the Rock of Cashel, through Ardfinnan, Cahir, the Knockmealdowns, Cappoquin, Lismore, Villierstown and Ardmore, over hills, through valleys and along the area's delightful rivers. It is impossible to capture the richness of the experience in a few words but stories told and confidences shared along the way contributed to the success of the pilgrimage and to lasting friendships. Finally, the nuns of Glencairn Cistercian Abbey, Lismore, provided the most gracious and thoughtful welcome that we have experienced on many Camino routes. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed several lovely conversations in the Abbey, filled with humour and kindly thoughtfulness. Thank you Phil and Elaine. Míle buíochas. We want to thank Elaine and Phil of Celtic Ways, with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart - for whose Mission in Sudan we walked the Pilgrim Path - for the most wonderful experience of walking St Declan's Way from Cashel to Ardmore at the end of May. The harmonies that struck us along the way will always be with us. These were - an appreciation of Celtic spirituality rooted in nature and neighbour evident in the hospitality of all we encountered from Glencomeragh to Ardmore, and in the abundant flourishing of the nature and landscape we walked in. The sacred moments through out our day and our shared sacred moments with Fr Tony each day when Eucharist was celebrated and our lunch shared in a nice shaded spot. The excitement of young people swimming in the cool River Suir at Ardfinnan and Goatenbridge. The tranquility of crossing the Mountain from Ballybacon/Grange to Mount Melleray and on to Lismore. Our nights out in Carrick and Dungarven and the Peace Choir singing in Glencomeragh; The shared laughter and singing of our group - officially launched on route -'The Electrolydes' - we bonded so well -forever young!!!- fun, fun, fun -great for the heart and soul. We could go on and on, all of the above came about because of Elaine and Phil's attention to detail, planning and preparation. Each of the five days brought its own magic with the input from our expert local guides. This was a superb experience, it is obvious to us that Elaine and Phil, are the experts and love what they do. What a wonderful experience we had last week as our Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Group had the immense privilege of taking part in walking St Declan’s Way with Phil and Elaine from Celtic Ways Ireland. There were so many special moments throughout the journey, each one leaving a lasting impression. The entire pilgrimage was made even more extraordinary by Phil and Elaine, who are simply incredible. The pilgrimage offered everything reflection, mountain walks, incredible organic food sourced locally, rich history and gorgeous hiking. A particular highlight was the evening they arranged for the Island of Ireland Choir of Peace to sing for us. The talent in the room was absolutely outstanding, and it added such a beautiful and uplifting dimension to the pilgrimage. If you ever have the opportunity to see this choir seize the opportunity. This is just another treat that Phil and Elaine arranged for us. Fr Tony Horgan MSC, our spiritual director, led us in outdoor Mass most days which brought a profound sense of peace and closeness to nature. One particularly moving occasion was at Lady’s Abbey, where we were joined by a remarkable 96-year-old lady whose presence made the experience incredibly special and deeply memorable. Celebrating Mass in the old cathedral in Ardmore, beside the round tower, was another highlight—a truly sacred and unforgettable moment. We have traveled with Celtic Ways as a group on multiple pilgrim walks over the past several years. Two years ago, we were so impressed with our St. Declans Way Pilgrim Experience in Ireland the first time that we have returned again and again. Last year my wife and the group walked the St. David's Way tour through Wales and Southeastern Ireland and this year we walked a brand new Fife Pilgrim Way tour through Northeastern Scotland and the historically significant Isle of Iona off the West Coast. This most recent itinerary was a bespoke tour crafted just for our group. Traveling with Dr. Phil and Elaine Brennan have left us with impressions that will last a lifetime. Each trip was unique and special because as Dr. Phil says, "things will happen along the way that are unplanned" and these are happenings that make the experience totally memorable. The accommodations and the food were always top notch and the very special people that the Brennans know and sprinkle throughout makes the time magical. Something else that the Brennans do with a twinkle in their eyes "we have a special surprise for you today". Count on it to be extraordinary. Phil and Elaine are an outstanding team making sure that no detail is missed and each person is looked after and cared for. A favorite Dr. Phil question is "Are we happy?". They treat each individual as they would a family member. After traveling with them, we feel like they are family to us and we look forward to many more adventures with Dr. Phil and Elaine. The K-Club is one of Ireland’s most iconic golf courses. It charms, it entices and invariably, brings out the very best in your game. It is unlikely that you will be asked to tackle the course from the championship tees, but this should in no way diminish the excitement of pitting your wits against Arnold Palmer, for, in a sense, this is precisely what you are about to do.

The Ryder Cup in 2006, the 2016 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open where we saw Rory McIlroy’s European Tour Shot of the Year and 11 European Opens testify the importance of The Ryder Cup Course to European Golf. The K Club plays host to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open again in 2025.

Golfing at Portmarnock Golf Club

Within a picturesque curve of coastline, Portmarnock Golf Club sits majestically on a narrow tongue of shallow duneland. And as a measure of its enduring quality, it remains one of the most respected venues in world golf.

No other Irish course has been graced by so many distinguished players in a rich history encompasing a broad sweep of significant events. It is where Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead successfully followed its serpentine route through classsic linkland on their way to victory in the 1960 Canada Cup.

The K Club & The Irish National Stud - an overview

We’ll arrange a tee time earlier in the day to suit you so that you’ve time later to do something a little different to your normal golfing holiday. When in Kildare, a visit to the Irish National Stud is a must! Golf and horses… the lifeblood of the Irish.

For non-golfers, we recommend a morning indulging in all that the hotel has to offer before a visit to the Japanese Gardens in the afternoon. The National Stud is adjoining the Gardens so we can time it for all to connect up mid afternoon to explore the story of Ireland’s thoroughbred racing industry together.

A day away in Dublin - Overview

After breakfast, we take a half hour transfer into the heart of Dublin. This is your time to get to visit iconic places in Dublin and come face to face with key events in Irish history that has shaped the Ireland of today.

Kilmainham Gaol Museum

For over 100 years Kilmainham Gaol held thousands of men, women and children for crimes that ranged from minor offences to being involved in some of the most momentous events in Irish history

A visit to Kilmainham Gaol will take you on a journey through Irish history. You will discover the stories of people held here as ordinary criminals alongside those who fought for Irish independence. From the 1798 rebellion, to the 1916 Easter Rising, the Anglo-Irish War (1919-21), to the devastation of the Irish Civil War (1922-23) all these important events have a chapter in the story of Kilmainham Gaol.

Visit to Christ Church Dublin

Time in Dublin is incomplete without a visit to Christ Church, a 1,000-Year-Old Viking Cathedral and Crypt in the Heart of the city. If we time it right, we may even get to hear the choristers sing. It’s a special space almost as old as Dublin itself.

Originally a Viking church founded circa 1028, Christ Church Cathedral is the spiritual heart of Dublin. As Dublin’s oldest working structure, the cathedral is beloved for its meticulous architecture, historic treasures, natural acoustics, and record-breaking bell tower. The bells at Christchurch are legendary in their own right with the oldest of nineteen dating back to 1738 and the largest weighing two and a quarter tons (2500KGs).

Guinness Storehouse Bespoke Tour

Visit the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin City, to experience the history, heart and soul of one of Ireland’s most famous beers.

Make your way through the Guinness Storehouse gates located in the heart of St James’s Gate, in Dublin City. Explore seven floors of the Guinness Storehouse building, which was once the fermentation plant of the brewery. Discover more about the ingredients, history and culture that tell the Guinness story before taking in the 360 degree views of Dublin City from one of Dublin’s highest vantage points, at the Gravity Bar. To your right, you will see the Wicklow Mountains, where Guinness sources its fresh Irish water for brewing. To the left, you will see the Phoenix Park and the Wellington Monument.

Portmarnock - The home of Irish Golf

The transfer from the hotel to Portmarnock takes approximately 45 minutes. It’s all about avoiding the heavy traffic around Dublin’s M50. A tee time around 10am is ideal but needs to be reserved months in advance. Playing golf in Portmarnock is an indulgence few golfers get to experience. It is a day to be enjoyed.

A separate tour around Kildare can be arranged for anyone not playing the golf. St Brigid’s Cathedral and a visit to Solas Brid is recommended. Equally, some may prefer an afternoon in Kildare Village Shopping Outlet. Gala Dinner that evening.

A visit to Kilkenny Castle

It’s worth it to spend some time in Kilkenny. It has a little bit of everything; its majestic castle on the banks of the River Nore, lovely cafes and bars, a boat trip… even a brewery. What could possible go wrong!

Kilkenny Castle is ideally situated in the heart of Kilkenny City, which allow visitors to explore this vibrant and compact city. The castle itself, stand on a height and was built by William Marshal, 4th Earl of Pembroke in the 12th century to command the crossing of the River Nore.

In the 14th century, Kilkenny Castle became the principal Irish residence of the powerful Butler Family, Earl, Marquess & Dukes of Ormonde, for almost 600 years. Today, visitors can experience the exuberant spirit of the Victorian age, faithfully brought back to life in the restored Period Rooms of Kilkenny Castle.

The Castle Park includes a 21 hectares walled demesne parkland to the south and a formal terraced Rose Garden to the north. The estate overlooks the Nore River and features mature trees and shrubs with an ornamental lake and a children’s playground.

Step back in time and enjoy the wonder and history of this prestigious stately home. You will be warmly greeted and accompanied throughout your bespoke tour with one of the Castle’s most experienced guides, who will enthral you with wonderful stories of the very powerful and influential Butler Family.

This magnificent Castle has many hidden gems with some very special pieces from the Ormonde Collection available to us for viewing in the Duchess Closet of the west wing. We can arrange for our visitors to get privileged access to this collection affording you the opportunity to handle some of these pieces, which may include weaponry, family photographs and special family pieces.

Malzardes Pub – Ceol, hurling & craic – Kilkenny

At the heart of the village of Stoneyford in Kilkenny is the Malzard-O’Gradys Pub and at the heart of this pub is Fred Malzard; a man who knows how to bring together a local community in a lively celebration of storytellers, musicians, hurling enthusiasts (young and old) and experienced pint pullers.

Dating back to 1789, the Malzard-O’Gradys Pub has been in the family of its current owner- Fred Malzard- for over five generations and 200 plus years. Originally, the business was started by James (“The Boss”) O’Grady, on the main street of Stonyford Village, County Kilkenny, to service a population that had risen locally due to the opening of a large woollen mill.

We’ll time this day to make sure you have time to enjoy your stunning breakfast. The transfer to the Old Head Golf Course in Kinsale takes under 2 hours. So we will try for a midday tee-time. Again, this needs to be booked months in advance to secure our slot. The demand is great at the Old Head!

We pass Jameson Distillery en route. If we’ve time, we can call in on our way back.

Golfing at The Old Head Kinsale

Occupying a stunning and unique headland reaching out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean, the Old Head of Kinsale is home to the most spectacular world-class golf course.

Located in County Cork on the South West Coast of Ireland, as the incredible brainchild of the late John O’Connor together with his brother Patrick, the Club has developed into one of the most recognised and sought after golf experiences anywhere on earth. Old Head Golf Links is built on a 220-acre diamond of land jutting out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. The promontory is almost an island with numerous caves running beneath your feet as you play the course. Jameson Distillery – Midleton

For over 200 years we called Dublin home, but in 1975 we moved our ever expanding operation to the green expanses of Midleton, Co. Cork. The big move wasn’t without risk, but the migration certainly paid dividends in the whiskey making department.

Our new home provided the space we needed to stretch our legs and our whiskey making ambitions, proximity to barley farmers and freshwater probably aren’t what people typically look for when house hunting, but Midleton seemed to have everything we need as well as the extra space for visitors.

The Jameson Experience brings the stories of Jameson’s rich heritage and ongoing innovations to life during this unforgettable distillery tour. Visit the amazing buildings; hear about the hardworking craftsmen and learn about the field to glass processes behind the famous Jameson taste.

Ardmore Pottery & Gallery – a Celtic experience

Ardmore Pottery & Gallery was opened in 1983 by Mary Lincoln, with a credit union loan and a prayer. From the beginning the pottery studio was the heart of the place, and it’s there she designed the unique Ardmore Pottery range. This is more than just a retail outlet… it is an experience that has been years in the moulding passed down through generations from Siobhan to Mary and now to Katie.

As your time in Ireland draws to a close, we’ve saved something very special ’til last. Your experience on this Gaelic peninsula draws you deeper into the Celtic story, its landscape and its people.

Sólás Na Mara

Sólás Na Mara is nestled in the main fishing harbour of An Rinn and overlooks the bay with the Comeragh mountains as a backdrop. Before you even arrive at Sólás, the beautiful views over Dungarvan Bay will set your mind at ease and put you in the spirit of relaxation. An Rinn is the perfect location for a Seaweed Bathhouse – close to the sea in a beautiful location: a small gaeltacht village, with a big heart.

Criostal na Rinne – hand cut crystal studio on Helvic Head

Criostal na Rinne is a hand cut crystal studio workshop situated in Ireland’s Ancient East in the picturesque Irish-speaking area of An Rinn, the Waterford Gaeltacht. Eamonn Terry, a master craftsman glasscutter of over 45 years experience, started his career with Waterford Crystal before establishing Criostal na Rinne in 1987, producing Irish crystal of breathtaking quality and beauty.

Marine Irish Folk Bar

On the way back, we stop off at the The Marine Irish Folk Bar for some live Irish folk music, a little Guinness or Irish Coffee to unwind at the end of a perfect day on Helvic Head.
