The Living Land Tour

Home 5 The Living Land Tour | Mythical Ireland in 2 Weeks

A 2-week small-group journey through mythical Ireland — Tara, Uisneach, Skellig Michael & Glendalough, guided by storytellers and the five Celtic elements.

5 000 years old Polnabrone Dolmen in Burren, Co. Clare - Ireland

This is not a journey that asks you to adopt a particular belief. Instead, it offers space to slow down, to listen, and to experience these remarkable places in your own way. Whether you are drawn by history, faith, folklore, archaeology, nature or simply the beauty of the Irish landscape, you will find room here to reflect, reconnect and be inspired.

Dún Laoghaire

Céad Míle Fáilte ( A hundred thousand welcomes )

Arrive at your own pace and settle into the elegant Royal Marine Hotel overlooking Dublin Bay — a 200-year-old institution that has hosted everyone from Queen Victoria to Frank Sinatra. Explore Dún Laoghaire’s Victorian harbour if time allows, then gather in the ornate foyer for a relaxed welcome dinner with your hosts and fellow travellers, sharing motivations and expectations over a glass of wine. Early to bed — a remarkable few days lie ahead.

02

KILDARE

Brigid — Where the Flame Still Burns

Our journey begins in Kildare with Brigid, goddess and saint. Phil introduces the Christian tradition at Solas Bhríde and St Brigid’s Cathedral, before Lorraine leads us further back in time at the Holy Well with the older stories of the Goddess Bríd. You’ll weave your own Brigid’s Cross and set your intentions for the journey ahead. Tonight: the Royal Marine.

03

MEATH · WESTMEATH · LIMERICK

Tara and Uisneach — The Heart of Ancient Ireland

A day at the spiritual centre of the island. We collect the key from a local farmer and step inside the 5,000-year-old passage tomb at Fourknocks, far from the tourist trail, then walk the Hill of Tara, seat of Ireland’s High Kings.

At the Hill of Uisneach — the sacred centre of Ireland — local guides share the stories of Ériu, Lugh and the Bealtaine fires. Tonight we settle into the family-run Deebert House Hotel in Kilmallock.

04

LOUGH GUR · CO. LIMERICK

Lough Gur — Where the Veil Thins

West to Lough Gur, where water, stone and story have intertwined for 6,000 years. Heather leads us around Ireland’s largest stone circle and its sacred tree, sharing the stories of the goddess Áine, and offers a quiet ritual in the Irish language at this ancient place of sun worship. After the dolmen, lakeshore walk and Heritage Centre, the evening in Kilmallock is your own.

Lough Gur (Irish: Loch Gair) is a lake in County Limerick, Ireland between the towns of Herbertstown and Bruff. The lake forms a horseshoe shape at the base of Knockadoon Hill and some rugged elevated countryside. It is one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites. Humans have lived near Lough Gur since about 3000 BC and there are numerous megalithic remains there.

05

KILLARNEY · PORTMAGEE

Killarney — Anam Ċara, Soul Friend

Into Kerry. At Muckross Abbey we explore the ancient yew and its journey from the Druids to Celtic Christianity, then cross Lough Leane by boat to the island monastery of Innisfallen, home to monks and their annals for over eight centuries. A scenic run through Killarney National Park brings us to the fishing village of Portmagee and the warm welcome of the Moorings, our home for two nights.

06

UNESCO World Heritage

Skellig Michael — At the Edge of the World

The day we’ve all been waiting for. A stroll across the road to the harbour and — weather permitting — we sail to Skellig Michael, UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the beehive huts of monks who chose the edge of the known world. Climbing the ancient steps is a challenge and a privilege. If the Atlantic has other plans, we explore the spectacular Skellig Coast instead; in Ireland, nature has always had the final say.

07

THE RING OF KERRY · WEST CORK

The Ring of Kerry — Wonder Around Every Bend

An unhurried day along one of the world’s great coastal routes, from Portmagee through Kerry into West Cork. We pause at the dramatic Kerry Cliffs, cross to Valentia Island, and stand among the Bronze Age stones of Kenmare Stone Circle. Time to breathe the sea air, take photographs and enjoy a leisurely lunch before arriving at the lakeside Gougane Barra Hotel, our base for two nights.

08

GOUGANE BARRA – WEST CORK

Gougane Barra — The Gift of Stillness

No coach today. We step straight from the hotel into the hidden valley of Gougane Barra, where Lorraine and Phil lead a gentle woodland walk through Celtic tree lore and the restorative rhythms of the forest.

There’s time at St Finbarr’s island oratory, watching quietly over the lake for generations. Today is not about seeing more — it’s about noticing more.

09

WATERFORD

Homeward Tides

We turn towards the sunny south east, through coastal Waterford to the fishing village of Dunmore East — a place close to our hearts. Walk the clifftop paths, then join a local skipper for a boat trip beneath the cliffs and into hidden coves, with stories from a lifetime on these waters.

By evening we arrive at the Ashdown Park Hotel in Gorey — for your hosts, this is home.

10

WICKLOW · WEXFORD

At Ireland's Kitchen Table

A celebration of Ireland’s 5,000-year-old bond with the land. The morning is spent with the Hayden family at Wicklow Baileys Farm — a working dairy farm, a farmhouse lunch and a lively introduction to hurling. Then to Gorey’s award-winning Bean & Goose Chocolate Factory for an exclusive Talk and Taste with chocolates loved by Bono and Amal Clooney alike.

Tonight, our final dinner together.

Wicklow

Glendalough - Where Past Meets Present

Everything gathers at Glendalough. We begin at the ancient Rag Tree with a simple offering of gratitude, then Lorraine guides us through the monastic city, revealing the older beliefs living quietly within its Christian heritage. You’ll create a personal keepsake in the ancient Ogham alphabet — one word to carry forward — before free time by the Upper Lake to walk, reflect or simply sit awhile in the stillness.

Your Hosts

Phil & Elaine Brennan

Hosted by Phil and Elaine of Celtic Ways Ireland, this carefully curated twelve-day experience explores Ireland through its sacred landscapes, ancient traditions and living heritage. Travelling from the prehistoric monuments of Brú na Bóinne to the tranquil valley of Glendalough, you’ll encounter places where mythology, history, nature and spirituality have intertwined for thousands of years.

Along the way you’ll be joined by Heritage Storytellers and Cultural Interpreters Lorraine and Heather, who bring Ireland’s folklore, mythology and cultural traditions vividly to life. Together, they offer two complementary perspectives on Ireland’s rich spiritual heritage, exploring both the wisdom of the ancient Celtic world and the contemplative traditions of Celtic Christianity with curiosity, warmth and respect.
