Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge
The Stormlands
Sway with the wind as you cross and take in the stunning views along the Causeway Coastal Route. It’s rare you get such a panoramic view while suspended almost 100 ft. above sea anywhere in the world.
Carrick-a-Rede one of Northern Ireland’s most loved attractions in Northern Ireland, cared for by the National Trust, a registered conservation charity founded to protect beautiful and special places for ever, for everyone. Connected to the cliffs by a rope bridge across the Atlantic Ocean, Carrick-a-Rede Island is the final destination.
The Dark Hedges
The Kings Road
This beautiful avenue of beech trees was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. It was intended as a compelling landscape feature to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their Georgian mansion, Gracehill House. Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight and have become one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland.
The iconic beech trees have been used as a filming location in HBO’s epic series Game of Thrones, representing the Kingsroad. It’s worth taking the time to walk the road and get your selfie especially if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, or family back home are. We’re only a 40 minute transfer back to Culloden Estate & Spa from here.

Ballintoy Harbour
The Iron Islands
Ballintoy Harbour is our next port of call. It is only 5 minutes down the road from Carrick-a-Rede. Accessed by a spectacular, steep winding road, it is a painter’s paradise with sea stacks, rocky islands, pools and busy harbour leading to one of Europe’s great cliff-top and wild beach walks. A car park and picnic facilities are available beside the harbour café.
It has been used as a filming location in HBO’s epic series Game of Thrones. This stunning harbour location has been used for exterior Pyke shots and as the Iron Islands. There’s a beauty here that’s timeless. Time to sample some of the delicious refreshments in the harbour cafe.

Giants Causway
Flanked by the wild North Atlantic Ocean and a landscape of dramatic cliffs, the Giant’s Causeway is a geological wonder and home to a wealth of history and legend. The 40,000 basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago, has captured the imagination of all who see it.
Recognised as one of Northern Ireland’s most precious landscapes is cared for by the National Trust, a registered conservation charity founded to protect beautiful and special places for ever, for everyone.
Explore a state-of-the-art interpretation within the award-winning Visitor Centre to unlock the mystery, myth and legend of this amazing place as it offers a unqiue glimpse into the wonder that is the Giant’s Causeway. A member of National Trust team will lead you on an award-winning guided tour to unlock the myth and legend of the landscape.
